Union Y Offers Two Great Events on February 26: Gan Open House and Early Bird Purim Carnival

The YM-YWHA of Union County, 501 Green Lane in Union, has many activities planned for Sunday, February 26. Beginning at 11:30 a.m., there will be a Gan Open House, offering special registration bonuses. Specifically tailored for children ages 2 ½- 3 ½ , the licensed pre-school program is known for its intense Hebrew immersion, integrated Judaic and secular curriculum and the positive transition the children make into day school as “Y Gan” graduates. The class will accept students who are not yet toilet trained, making toilet training an integral part of the program. Also included are kosher meals and snacks, tefilla, parsha study, music, art, swim, gym and cooking specials. On February 26, families will have the opportunity to meet Morah Miriam, the head teacher, and Morah Gila, the assistant. All families who sign up for the 2017-18 school year with a deposit on February 26 will get free admissions into the Purim Carnival.

The “Early Bird” Purim Carnival is a 30+-year tradition at the Y. Boasting over 15 game booths with prizes, rides such as a trackless train and inflatables such as boot camp and obstacle courses, the carnival offers something for everyone. Goldfish will be back by popular demand and a gala costume parade will take place at 2 p.m. Traveling Tykes of Lakewood will be providing many of the rides and booths.

Admission is $25 per family ($18 for Y members). Food available for purchase includes pizza, popcorn, cotton candy, bagels, hamantashen and beverages. The carnival hours are 12:30-3:30 p.m.

On the actual festival of Purim itself (Sunday, March 12) the Y will offer a Megillah reading at 10:30 followed by a light bagel brunch. More information will follow. For details on any of these events, please contact the Y at 908-289-8112.
