On Sunday, November 6, at 8 p.m., Cong. Rinat Yisrael Adult Education will present Dr. Efraim Zuroff and Ruta Vanagaite speaking on “Traveling With My Enemy: Combating Holocaust Distortion in Eastern Europe.”
The widespread movement in Eastern Europe to rewrite the narrative of the Shoah seeks to minimize the role of local Nazi collaborators. In a dramatic development, a celebrated Lithuanian author has teamed up with an Israeli Holocaust scholar to reveal the truth about the participation of ordinary citizens in the mass murder of their Jewish neighbors. The speakers will share their experiences traveling together in the Summer of 2015 as “enemies” to visit many of the over 220 killing sites in towns and villages across Lithuania.
Dr. Efraim Zuroff is the chief Nazi-hunter of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and the founder and director of its Israel office.
Ruta Vanagaite is a celebrated Lithuanian author and public personality who, along with Dr. Zuroff, coauthored Musiskiai (“Our People”), a book about their journey to the killing fields. Ruta is a recipient of the 2016 Woman of Valor Award from the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
