YU and Young Israel of Fort Lee Present August Lecture Programs

Yeshiva University, in collaboration with Young Israel of Fort Lee, will be presenting two lectures during the month of August.

On Monday, August 14, Dr. Steven Fine, Dean Pinkhos Churgin Professor of Jewish History and director of YU’s Center for Israel Studies, will be speaking on “The Temple Menorah and the Arch of Titus.” He will recount his research into the menorah engraved into the Arch of Titus in Rome and how that symbol has changed and resonated from ancient times to modern Israel.

Fine’s talk is part of the monthly Lunch & Learn series and will take place at 12 p.m. A light dairy lunch will be served.

On Tuesday, August 22, Rabbi Dr. Meir Soloveichik, director of YU’s Zahava and Moshael Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought, will recount lessons from Rembrandt’s masterpiece, “How to Bless our Children.” The evening will begin at 7:30 with Mincha, followed by the lecture.
