Teaneck—Barbara Rothstein, a resident of Fair Lawn, NJ, was named the Fair Lawn Chapter of Hadassah’s  2013 Woman of Valor.  The Northern New Jersey Region of Hadassah held its Myrtle Wreath Celebration recently at Keter Torah in Teaneck, New Jersey. The celebration honored the “Woman of Valor” of each chapter; the outstanding woman selected by her chapter in recognition of her time and energy devoted to Hadassah’s projects.

The Hadassah Region also bestowed its highest honor, the 2013 Myrtle Wreath Award, to Aviva Kempner of Washington, DC. Ms. Kempner is an award winning filmmaker, journalist and philanthropist who has devoted her life to making films which focus on social issues. Her award winning documentaries include The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg and Yoo-Hoo, Mrs. Goldberg. She is currently working on a film entitled, The Rosenwald Schools, which details the life of Julius Rosenwald and his work in building schools with the African-American communities in the South in the early 20^th century. The event was co-chaired by Laurie Green and Sheri Taback of Wayne.

The Northern New Jersey Region of Hadassah encompasses 26 chapters, spans six New Jersey counties and parts of Staten Island, and has more than 11,000 members.
