Frisch Annual Dinner Yields Record-Breaking Turnout

(Courtesy of Yeshivat Frisch) The Yeshivat Frisch annual dinner that took place on February 10 at the Teaneck Marriott broke previous attendance and giving records. Over 675 community members and leaders were in attendance, with over $1.8 million raised. The dinner, whose theme was “Building Bridges With Frisch,” proudly honored members of the Frisch family who have worked tirelessly to strengthen the school and enrich the educational experiences of its students.

The guests of honor were Dr. Janet and Kenny Hoffman, former Frisch parents, who began their substantial involvement with the school following their children’s graduation to help the school continue to provide a wonderful education and high school experience to its students. Kenny is a long-time board member of The Frisch School and serves as chair of its finance committee. Kenny works as a managing director and partner in the private wealth management firm HSW Advisors/HighTower, while Janet is an early childhood social worker at the Abraham Joshua Heschel School in Manhattan.

Amy Eagle, recipient of the Nedivat Lev Award, serves as a board member (formerly a member of the executive board) and chair of Frisch’s education committee. She has worked with Frisch Principal Rabbi Eli Ciner thinking through major educational opportunities and challenges facing students. She works as the technology integrator for the Solomon Schechter School of Westchester’s lower school. All four of her and her husband Myron’s children are Frisch graduates.

Dr. Doron Katz ’93, recipient of the Alumni Recognition Award, is a doctor in the community with offices in Englewood, Manhattan (Access Medical Associates) and New Square (Refuah Health Center). He has been voted by patients as a top internist in Bergen County by The Jewish Standard newspaper and also has the distinction of being a co-founder of OnlySimchas.com. He and his wife Dr. Micol Katz are now Frisch parents themselves, with their eldest son a sophomore at the school.

Dafna Zilberschmid, recipient of the Rav Shlomo Kahn a”h Memorial Award, serves as Frisch’s Hebrew department chair and marked her “chai” anniversary—18 years—at Frisch this year. During her tenure, the Hebrew department has created its own in-house Hebrew curriculum and divided the students into classes based on differentiated levels of Hebrew. Morah Dafna has worked tirelessly to reach learners at every level while infusing the Hebrew curriculum with creative, meaningful content and love of medinat Yisrael (where she and her husband Rami were born and raised).

“We are grateful for the leadership of all our honorees in furthering the mission of our yeshiva,” said Frisch Principal Rabbi Eli Ciner.

Scott Herschmann, Jennifer Prince ‘95 and Bennett Schachter ‘93 served as Scroll of Honor chairs, while Batya Paul and Aliza Schulhof served as dinner chairs. Frisch Director of Development Rachel Roth and Alumni Coordinator Cheryl Leiser also played instrumental roles in coordinating the event. The dinner featured addresses by Rabbi Ciner as well as President of the Board of Trustees Paul Rolnick.
