Shaarei Orah to Host Harav Baruch Gigi as Scholar-in-Residence This Shabbat

Shaarei Orah, The Sephardic Congregation of Teaneck, will host as scholar-in-residence Harav Baruch Gigi, Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshivat Har Etzion, on Shabbat Rosh Chodesh Nisan, Parashat HaHodesh, Vayikra, March 16/17. Harav Gigi will be speaking at the following times: Erev Shabbat, Friday, March 16, during Kabbalat Shabbat at approximately 7:10 p.m., on “The Value of Life and the Values of Life—A View From Vayikra”; Shabbat, March 17, pre-mincha at approximately 5:45 p.m., on “The Sephardic Rabbis and Zionism: A Review and Discussion”; and Seudah Shlishit, Saturday, March 17, at approximately 7 p.m., on “Hachodesh Hazeh Lachem: The Calendar of Second Temple Sects and Our Role in This World.”

Harav Baruch Gigi is a Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshivat Har Etzion. He also teaches at the Beit Midrash for Women in Migdal Oz and at Ohr Torah Stone’s Michlelet Bruriah and serves as the rav of the Sephardic Synagogue in Alon Shevut. Previously a Ram and Rosh Kollel at the Hesder Yeshiva “Ma’alot,” Harav Gigi has served as a Ram at Yeshivat Har Etzion from 1988. In 2005 he was inaugurated, together with Harav Yaakov Medan, as Rosh Yeshiva, alongside the founding Roshei Yeshiva, and they were joined in 2008 by Harav Mosheh Lichtenstein.
