Sen. Singer Resolution Establishing ‘Economic Development Day’ Passes Committee

A resolution by Senator Robert Singer that designates the second Monday of May of each year as “New Jersey Economic Development Day” has passed the Senate Economic Growth Committee. Duvi Honig, the founder and chief executive officer of the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce, championed the effort.

“New Jersey is blessed with strong human capital, a prime location, robust transportation infrastructure and the best public schools in the county,” Singer (R-30) said. “Still, more can be done to increase New Jersey’s economic competitiveness. I am proud to work with Duvi Honig and the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce to help enhance New Jersey’s business development efforts. Boosting business and economic growth through ‘New Jersey Economic Development Day’ will show the world that the Garden State is open and ready for business.”

Singer’s joint resolution, SJR-72, aims to encourage and promote New Jersey state and local economic development programs. The resolution requests that the governor annually call upon elected officials, business owners and the citizens of New Jersey to discuss job creation, fiscal resiliency and how to best enhance business-development plans.

“It is painful watching our fellow citizens who cannot properly celebrate Labor Day each year,” Honig said. “They are motivated and talented, but often lack the guidance and tools to succeed. We are excited to work with Senator Singer and other legislators to establish an annual ‘Economic Development Day’ in our state through which we will collaborate and help every individual achieve his or her financial and entrepreneurial dreams.”

“Mr. Honig and the Chamber’s successful track record demonstrate how proactive and innovative economic development programs can empower individual and business success across New Jersey,” Singer added. “In today’s contemporary business world, having proactive access to networking and information tools is indispensable.”
