‘Asbury Shorts’ Returns to Kaplen JCC on the Palisades

“Asbury Shorts,” New York City’s longest-running short-film exhibition and travel show, will present their nationally recognized 37th Short Film Concert at The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly on Tuesday, June 26, at 7:30 p.m. The night will include a full evening of award-winning films, curated from the top global film festivals, creating a rare opportunity for audiences to view world-class short films on a real cinema screen rather than on YouTube, smartphones or computers.

In this year’s showcase, “Asbury Shorts” is celebrating the work of women and will feature the best in comedy, drama and animation. Highlights include: “The Suitor,” a dark comedy from director Kate Riedl of Australia, a surreal tale of a young courtship in the wilds of the Australian Outback; “The Drive,” directed by Corinne Kassor, is the poignant story of Evie, a loving daughter, who struggles with role reversals as she drives her aging parents to an assisted living facility; “Pickle,” a documentary directed by Amy Nicholson, examines the complicated relationships humans have with their pets in a film of unexpected warmth and mirth.

Tickets cost $13 for JCC members; $16 public. Tickets sell out quickly, so register in advance at jccotp.org (click on “Adult Programs” and “Film Events”) or call Michele at 201.408.1496.
