NORPAC Hosts Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) in Teaneck

On a recent Thursday evening, Drs. Esther and Mort Fridman hosted a NORPAC pro-Israel event with Senator Robert Menendez (D-NY) at their home in Teaneck.

Robert Menendez is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He was the first New Jersey Democrat to oppose the Iran Deal (JCPOA) in 2015 and has been a co-sponsor or co-author of most major bipartisan bills on American security funding to Israel and Iran sanctions.

On the opening of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, Menendez stated, “The opening of the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem is grounded in the conviction that the United States should recognize the historical Jewish connection to Jerusalem. Over two decades ago, U.S. law established the location of the U.S. Embassy in Israel, a law that I voted for. This move was never a matter of ‘if,’ but ‘when.’”

During the event, Menendez expressed optimism about U.S. relations with Israel and the future of his party in supporting this relationship. He stressed that fringe elements of the party would not change the dialogue on Israel in Congress so long as pro-Israel advocates continue their work on Capitol Hill.

Senator Robert Menendez has served for over 20 years in Congress, in both the House and Senate, and will be seeking re-election to his Senate post this November.
