Marc Katz Is Named OHEL’s New Chief Operating Officer

(Courtesy of OHEL) OHEL Children’s Home and Family Services is pleased to announce the appointment of Marc Katz as OHEL’s new chief operating officer.

Katz will be based out of the new OHEL Jaffa Family Campus in Flatbush, which is a center of excellence, providing developmental, mental health and medical services.

Katz was the senior director for operations before being named as chief operating officer.

Katz’s sensitivity of client care, coupled with his service-oriented personality, will help many individuals and families in the many communities served by OHEL. With the vast changes in New York healthcare, affecting patients and providers, Katz brings a record of diverse professional experience, which will additionally help facilitate a smooth transition to managed care.

Joining OHEL over 16 years ago as a supervisor, Katz has assumed successive positions of management responsibility from OHEL’s residential programs for men and women with psychiatric disabilities and developmental disabilities, to community-based program and mental health outpatient centers.

Katz worked directly with the late Asher Fogel, a”h, OHEL’s previous chief operating officer, for over 10 years and was instrumental in working with him to build upon OHEL’s innovative and peerless programs. “It is a privilege to serve as the COO and to further heighten Asher’s vision. While OHEL started as a foster care agency 49 years ago, today we meet the ever-increasing and diverse community needs for those challenged by disability and everyday people facing various demands of life. A main challenge for OHEL is to break down stigma in the community. My goal, as that of my colleagues, is to continue to nurture a community that is proactive in seeking the help when needed and to elevate lives every day.”

The co-presidents of OHEL, Moishe Hellman and Mel Zachter, and the board of OHEL are excited to see Katz continue his tireless work on behalf of OHEL’s children and families.
