Five New Jersey Federations Announce Transition to New Statewide Federation Structure

The Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey, along with the Jewish Federations of Greater MetroWest, Somerset, Warren and Hunterdon Counties and Southern New Jersey, are partnering to create a new statewide Federation model called “New Jersey Jewish Federations.” The existing organization, “New Jersey State Association of the Jewish Federations,” will be restructured into a new innovative model that will address the collective needs of the 500,000 Jewish residents in New Jersey.

Through shared resources, this new statewide partnership will maximize its ability to positively impact Jewish lives, allowing for an enhanced platform with elected officials, non-government organizations, members of law enforcement and statewide intergroup entities. New Jersey Jewish Federations will be funded by the individual participating Federations at no less than its current annual funding level for three fiscal years beginning July 1.

“The development of a new statewide collaborative partnership will enable us to support one another through combined resources and allocations and achieve optimal results and effectiveness for the Jewish community on a statewide level,” said Jason Shames, CEO, Jewish Federation Northern New Jersey.

In its first year of operation, New Jersey Jewish Federations will focus on governmental partners for the delivery of vital social services, building relationships with key constituents and developing a mutual strategy for community engagement, connections to Israel and local security plans.

This resolution will effectively allow the statewide Federations to capitalize on emerging needs and opportunities that will support and fortify the statewide Jewish community.

The Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey is dedicated to preserving, fostering and securing a vibrant local Jewish community for today and beyond. Working collaboratively with donors, volunteers and other Jewish organizations, they aspire to transform lives.
