Zahal Shalom, a non-profit organization located in Northern New Jersey, works to help aid and alleviate the injuries that Israeli veterans suffer from their service in the IDF. During their brave and heroic time fighting for Israel, many soldiers suffer a multitude of physical and emotional injuries that can impact them for a lifetime. The organization’s programming is designed to enable veterans to enjoy stress-free experiences in America and bond with American families, which benefits them in their long-term recovery.

Compassionate volunteers open their hearts and homes to forge life-long relationships that support the veterans and their hopes for the future. Hosts in turn benefit from sharing the experience with them, and are proud to express their gratitude for the veterans’ service to Israel. Zahal Shalom’s program of cultural, educational and social events enriches the lives of the veterans, promotes new senses of opportunity and fosters bonds of love and support. The program attracts the participation of hundreds of community members and leaves a personal impact on every individual who participates in the one-of-a-kind trip.

Zahal Shalom has hosted hundreds of soldiers to date, many of whom have been changed by their experiences with the organization. Ori, a past delegation member, recalls: “For me this amazing opportunity was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. You put a smile on my face that had suffered from PTSD for so long. You will forever have a place in my heart.”

The mission to be there for those who were there to protect Israel continues this June, as Zahal Shalom welcomes its annual delegation of 12 soldiers for a two-week experience of a lifetime.

Zahal Shalom invites the extended community to join in celebrating these heroic individuals at its annual gala on Thursday, June 6, at Temple Beth Rishon in Wyckoff, New Jersey. The fundraiser offers the opportunity to meet and speak with the veterans and to hear all about their incredible stories. To learn more and to make reservations, please visit ZahalShalom.org/Dinner.

In addition, Zahal Shalom invites all those who wish to learn more about its mission, programming, volunteer opportunities and ways to donate to go online to ZahalShalom.org.
