Congregation Beth Abraham Plans Annual Dinner

Congregation Beth Abraham will host its 24th annual dinner on Thursday, June 20, at Congregation Keter Torah, at 6:30 p.m. This year’s guests of honor are Heather and Daniel Kaminetsky, and Chana and Tsachi Meyers are the recipients of the Max and Magda Sternbach Midor L’Dor Community Service Award. Both couples are true examples of community service, stepping up to give of their time and talents to the shul, whenever the need arises.

Heather and Daniel Kaminetsky have been involved in Beth Abraham since they moved into the community in 2004. Daniel served as gabbai sheini and gabbai rishon in the main shul for four years. He then moved up to the executive committee serving as first vice president for two years and then president for two years. He has served on the Capital Campaign committee, was instrumental in bringing the mashpia to the shul, and has helped guide the nusach Sefard minyan during its early years. However, he may be best known for his inspiring davening on Yom Kippur, Shabbos and Yom Tov. He has also helped edit the announcement sheets for many years. Heather and Daniel have chaired the dinner campaign committee for the last two years, and Heather has served on the shul’s youth committee. They are both involved in other community projects with Heather serving on the Ma’ayanot board and volunteering for Yeshivat Noam, while Daniel is involved in fundraising for Ma’ayanot and Yeshivat Noam.

Chana and Tsachi Meyers have been involved in so many aspects of the shul, particularly behind the scenes, that they truly represent the embodiment of a community service award. Tsachi has been the gabbai of the 9:10 minyan since 2010. He has served as gabbai for the Yamim Noraim social hall minyan since 2015. Tsachi has organized the shul’s seudah shlishit, Neilat Hachag and Tikkun Leil Shavuot program for the last three years. These have become true Meyers family events with involvement of their children in setting up and cleaning up. Taschi is also in his second stint on the shul board. Chana and Tsachi have been involved in creating and emceeing previous trivia games for Meet the Members. Chana’s fingerprints have been on every aspect of the shul sisterhood and their activities during her 13 years on the sisterhood board, two of which she served as president. She co-chaired Meet the Members, the shul barbecue, the hachnasat orchim Shabbat, mishloach manot and the Shavuot bake sale. Chana also served on the youth committee for two years. For 19 years, Chana was a teacher at Moriah and she currently serves as the director of the Learning Center at Ma’ayanot. Chana and Tsachi are always available when called upon to help out the shul in any way, large or small. They truly embody the qualities of the namesakes of their award.

Please join Beth Abraham in wishing a mazal tov to Heather and Daniel as well as Chana and Tsachi and pay tribute to them at the dinner for their extensive contributions to the shul.
