Yeshivat Noam’s 13th Annual Dinner Seeks to Raise $800K

Yeshivat Noam will celebrate its 13th Annual Dinner, Tuesday night March 17th. Yeshivat Noam President Nachman Paul said, “Like all Bergen County day schools, the revenue provided by tuition does not cover the cost of delivering excellence in secular and Judaic education as well as financial aid to 25% of our student body.” The mission this year is to reach an $800,000 goal and, so far, they have raised $500,000.

The Guests of Honor, Sheva and Dov Adler, are Yeshivat Noam leaders, advocates, ambassadors and supporters for over a decade. Sheva served as a board member and as Co-President, and chaired the Annual Dinner. She led multiple school initiatives and is committed to her shul, Beth Abraham in Bergenfield. Dov has been a member of the school’s Board of Trustees since 2005, served as Treasurer for four years and President for three (2011-2014). In addition to paying down $6 million in debt, under Dov’s leadership, Noam produced the first Parent Survey, launched a Head of School Support and Review Committee, and transformed its Educational Technology agenda. Dov also serves on the boards of Congregation Beth Abraham and Ma’ayanot High School for Girls and currently chairs the UJA-Federation of New York Accountants Division. Dov and Sheva live in Teaneck with their children Leora (YN’14), Talia (7th grade), Eitan (4th grade) and Noam (Buds).

The Community Awardees are Deborah and Eitan Fiorino. Deborah is instrumental helping the school meet students’ needs in all areas: social, emotional and academic. A member of Yeshivat Noam’s Board of Trustees, she has served as YNPA Co-President and Co-Chair of the Parent School Partnership (formerly called the Education Committee) each for two years, chaired and co-chaired multiple committees including a Special Needs Sub-Committee, the Middle School Task Force, Judaic Studies Administrator Search Committee, and currently, a Curriculum Reassessment Task Force. She works with Noam’s faculty and parent body as a Professional Development and Parent Partnership speaker on sensory development in students. Eitan served on the Board of Trustees for three years, served on the first Executive Director Search Committee, and headed the first Strategic Planning Committee. Eitan also served on the Board of Directors and as treasurer of the Centro Primo Levi (The Italian/Sephardic Jewish unit of the Center for Jewish History). The Fiorinos are involved in congressCongregation Rinat Yisrael, where Eitan served on the Adult Education Committee and Deborah is an Executive Board Member. Deborah and Eitan are the proud parents of two alumni, Shoshana (YN’12) and Netanel (YN’14) and current 7th grader, Bentzion.

The foundation of Yeshivat Noam’s success is the strength of its teachers. Yeshivat Noam is proud to honor Morah Ilissa Green and Morah Rachel Levy, two exceptional educators.

Morah Ilissa Green is beloved by all and has been teaching at Yeshivat Noam for 13 years—the last nine as a Kindergarten teacher. This year, she is helping to pilot a new classroom model for Kindergarten. She lives in Teaneck with her husband Zev and their sons, Ari (7th Grade), Eitan (4th Grade), and Yonatan, who is two-and-a-half.

Morah Rachel Levy is an outstanding First Grade educator who loves teaching Ivrit and Parsha while imparting a love for Judaism to each of her students. Her international background enriches her students’ educational experience. Born in Budapest, Hungary to Holocaust survivors, Morah Rachel’s family immigrated to Israel. Morah Rachel and her husband, Reuven, live in Fair Lawn and are proud parents of three children and three grandchildren. Their youngest child, Daniel, graduated from Yeshivat Noam in 2011 and is currently a college student.

The Dinner Chairs working tirelessly to ensure the success of the evening are Tova Gerson and Nechama Saks. The Annual Campaign committee, which is focused on the fundraising goal, is led by Abie Cohen, a vice-president of the Board of Trustees and the Campaign Co-Chairs: Saul Stepner, Dovid Warshawsky and Ronnie Weinblut.
