Pesach Cooking Demo at TABC

The Parent Council of Torah Academy Of Bergen County is having a special cooking demonstration featuring Liz Alpern, owner of the GEFILTERIA, who is listed in the 2014 Forbes 30 under 30. She will be demonstrating how to make homemade gefilte fish and homemade gourmet horseradish. The demonstration will take place Wednesday. March 25 at 7 p.m., at 25 Central Park West #301, NYC. Congregation Etz Chaim Holds pre-Pesach Food Drive

Livingston—Congregation Etz Chaim welcomes donations of unopened, unexpired, nonperishable food items. The shul will be collecting these items until Sunday morning, March 29 at 10 a.m. in its main lobby. The synagogue’s youth department, under the guidance of youth director Yoni Glatt, will categorize and load the items for delivery to the JFS-affiliated food pantry in Elizabeth.

Founder of Nechama Comfort Interviewed for NBC NY

Reva Judas, a Teaneck native for the past 30 years, and an active member of Congregation Rinat Yisrael, was interviewed last week by Channel 4 New York regarding Nechama Comfort, the organization she started to help women deal with the pain of pregnancy or infant loss. The segment has evoked an outpouring of interest in the organization. Bruriah to Hold Alumnae vs Students Basketball Game

Elizabeth—The Jewish Educational Center’s Bruriah High School will be holding an alumnae vs. student basketball game on Sunday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bruriah gym. The event is free and open to all women in the community. There will be raffles and contests during halftime to raise funds for Bruriah’s athletic department, including protective padding for the walls and a trophy display case. There will be a lunch reception after the game. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Reservations are requested but not required. Rabbi Richard Kirsch Recognized as AIPAC Advisor of the Year

Rabbi Kirsch was named Advisor of the Year by AIPAC at its recent 2015 Policy Conference. Noam Student Wins Essay Prize

Meital Fuksbrumer of Teaneck was a top winner for the district in the Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest. She is pictured reading her essay for the assembled veterans at an event recently held at the Bogota VFW, where she was presented with an award. She is a seventh grader at Yeshivat Noam.

 

Rav Goldwicht to Give Insights Into the Hagadah

Rav Meir Goldwicht, a rosh yeshiva at Yeshiva University’s Mazer School of Talmudic Studies, head of the Stone Beit Medrash Program and Rosh Kollel at Camp Mesorah, will give a shiur entitled “How to Come Ready to Leil HaSeder: Insights into the Hagadah Shel Pesach” on Tuesday night, March 24. The shiur will be given in Hebrew at 8:30 p.m. at Congregation Bnai Yeshurun (Old Main). Men and women are welcome to attend.
