Rabbi Dr. Abraham J. Twerski is Honoree at Shalom Task Force’s Annual Brunch

New York—Shalom Task Force (STF) is pleased to announce that Rabbi Dr. Abraham J. Twerski will be its Guest of Honor at its third annual brunch on Sunday, May 3 at the Sephardic Temple in Cedarhurst, NY. This year’s honorees are Rabbi Abraham J. Twerski, MD; Mrs. Sheila Selig; and Mrs. Joyce Austein.

Dr. Twerski is an internationally acclaimed speaker and author. His book, A Shame Borne in Silence, brought to light the existence of spousal abuse within the Jewish community. Rabbi Twerski’s lifelong dedication to mentoring and improving the Jewish community has inspired the pioneering women of STF. With his example in mind, they’ve sought to further pierce the veil of secrecy and help couples begin a journey towards healthy marriages.

Sheila Selig, who is receiving the Community Leadership Award, has strong connections to the Orthodox community in the Five Towns. Since 1979, Ms. Selig has provided consulting services to both technology-based businesses and non-profit organizations, including municipal agencies. Her experience and skill in management, executive coaching, and development have proven invaluable to vital chesed organizations. She has been a friend and mentor to Shalom Task Force from its inception.

Mrs. Joyce Austein of Lawrence, New York is the recipient of the Shalom Task Force Dedicated Service Award. Joyce has been a volunteer and supporter of Shalom Task Force for over a decade. Her community activism and participation in various aspects of the organization have been an integral part of its success. Joyce and her husband, Eric, are known for their involvement in the growth of many yeshivos both in the Five Towns and Israel, as well as being supporters of One Israel Fund, Sharsheret, Shalva, Emunah, Young Israel of Cedarhurst Lawrence, and Beth Shalom.
