Renewal Is Coming to Bnai Yeshurun

Founded in 2006, Renewal is an organization dedicated to assisting people suffering from chronic kidney disease and to educating the public on the life-saving benefits of living kidney donation. Renewal facilitates and coordinates live-donor kidney transplants while providing guidance and support to patients and their families. To serve their patients and society at large, Renewal promotes awareness of kidney donation by educating potential donors and the community about living donation and its benefits.

Renewal is pleased to share that two members of the Bnai Yeshurun community are recent recipients of a kidney; both donors are members of the Teaneck community as well. Unfortunately, Renewal’s waiting list still includes close to 300 people who are in dire need of a kidney transplant.

Please join us this Shabbos, April 25, at Congregation Bnai Yeshurun, 641 West Englewood Avenue, Teaneck, for a Renewal Shabbaton. Rabbi Ari Sytner, Director of Community Initiatives for Yeshiva University’s Center for the Jewish Future and a kidney donor himself, will be delivering the Shabbat morning drasha on the topic From Tzaraas to Kidney Disease: Turning a Physical Reality Into a Spiritual Opportunity. We invite you to join us and be inspired by Rabbi Sytner’s personal account of kidney donation.

Renewal stands at the forefront as advocates for donors and recipients, helping them navigate the complex transplant process. The organization has earned the respect of the medical community and the eternal gratitude of the many patients and families who are beneficiaries of their work.

Their services are free of charge to anyone in need. With the rate of kidney failure steadily rising, they seek to help these individuals receive a kidney and thereby live a brighter future.

For more information or to get tested to be a donor, please contact Rabbi Josh Sturm, Director of Outreach at 718-431-9831 ext. 206 or by emailing [email protected].
