Yeshivat Noam Partners With Online Farmers Market

With the arrival of spring, so many of us start to think about shedding those heavy winter clothes and enjoying what nature has to offer. Just a couple of weeks after Pesach, Yeshivat Noam’s Health Committee launched its new partnership with Farmigo, an online farmers’ market. Unlike a traditional “CSA” (Community Supported Agriculture) where you get a delivery of whatever the farm’s bounty crop happens to be, Farmigo members can select exactly what items they want for any given week, and order as much or as little as they choose. The site, designed for Yeshivat Noam, offers only kosher items, which aside from produce also include milk, eggs, brownies, cookies, chips and more. Working with Farmigo provides Yeshivat Noam with an amazing opportunity to bring healthful, local, fresh foods into the community. As an added bonus, if the weekly order reaches Farmigo’s minimum, they provide a percentage of the funds to the school as a donation.

Only a few weeks after the program began, members of Noam’s Farmigo community are already raving about their treats, which come individually packaged by order: crisp apples, fragrant basil, juicy tomatoes, indulgent (gluten-free) brownies, exotic mushrooms and lettuce still rooted in soil—each item carefully packed into convenient brown shopping bags. As the crops expand in variety, so will the offerings at Farmigo. Coming soon will be juicy and sweet summer fruits, such as berries, peaches, plums and more.

To become a member of Farmigo and get started with your own orders, simply log in to farmigo.com/yeshivatnoampsp and start shopping! There’s no minimum to order and no delivery charge. Orders must be placed by Sunday at midnight, and deliveries arrive for pick up in the front lobby of the elementary school building at Yeshivat Noam in Paramus. Arrangements for orders to be brought back to Teaneck can be made as needed. Farmigo is open to anyone who is interested.
