Keter Torah’s 15th Annual Dinner to Be Held June 17

Congregation Keter Torah’s Fifteenth Annual Dinner, saluting Guests of Honor Phyllis and Buzzy Green and Esther and William B. Manischewitz Community Service Award Honorees Yaffa and Neil Bromberg, will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 6:30pm.

Phyllis and Buzzy Green met in Cejwin Camps in 1970 and were married in 1974. They lived in Brooklyn, then in Staten Island, for 18 years, moving to Teaneck in 1994. They have three married children: Dr. Shoshana Green and Dr. Danny Fein; Yael Green and Elnatan Rudolph; and Jacob and Mimi Mendelsohn Green. They also have grandchildren who daven along with them at Keter Torah.

In 2002, the Greens spearheaded the shul’s efforts to raise much needed funds for Hatzalah of Yehudah and Shomron to purchase new and updated equipment. Phyllis has organized the Yom Tov children’s groups, actively worked on Purim and Simchat Torah events and sat on the Rabbinic search committees. She continues to participate in the chesed activities of the shul and community. Buzzy has been a member of the Advisory Council, was the dinner and journal chairman for the last 12 years, is a shul gabbai and, most importantly, is the licorice man on Shabbat. The Greens are also active in the Jewish National Fund and its projects in Gush Etzion, Halutzah and the S’derot Children’s Center.

Since moving to the New Milford community 12 years ago, Yaffa and Neil Bromberg have been committed members of Keter Torah. Yaffa has been involved in ATARA, first as an active member and eventually as chair of the Mishloach Manot committee. She has participated in shul teas, luncheons, Meet the Members events and Zumba classes and now serves as co-president of ATARA. Neil makes calls for the Yom Kippur appeal, helps put up the shul sukkah and provides ruach wherever and whenever possible. As Keter Torah gabbai and a frequent baal tefillah, Neil has become a fixture in the Beit Knesset. Outside the shul, Neil is a long-time PAL baseball coach, helping many neighborhood children hone their skills. Yaffa and Neil have been blessed with three children, Adam, Ian and Alexa, whose exemplary middot are a testament to the exceptional Keter Torah youth department.
