West Orange Welcomes Consul General of New York Dani Dayan

On March 19, One Israel Fund leadership and supporters joined together for a cocktail reception at the West Orange home of Renee and Dr. Moshe Glick, who co-chaired the event along with Lawrence Rein, chair of the JCC MetroWest, to welcome Israel’s newest Consul General in New York, Ambassador Dani Dayan. Jonathan Sherman, a West Orange resident who currently serves as president of One Israel Fund, acted as reception host.

Following the reception, Ambassador Dayan gave a community-wide talk at Congregation AABJ&D in West Orange, in which he spoke about his career path. Born in Argentina, Dayan’s family made aliyah in 1971. He served in the IDF’s elite MAMRAM center, attaining the rank of Major. Dayan launched his own tech start-up, Elad Systems, and served as chairman of the YESHA Council following his move from Tel Aviv to Ma’ale Shomron. Dayan has a strong background in the area of cyber security and spoke about the Negev becoming the global hotspot for this industry sector.

Following Dayan’s talk, One Israel Fund’s Director of Community Development, Natalie Sopinsky, spoke about the Pina Chama project, which provides hospitality centers to IDF soldiers serving throughout Judea and Samaria, and the volunteer and financial support needed to keep these centers running.

One Israel Fund’s Executive Vice President, Scott Feltman, made final remarks, explaining the origin of the Pina Chama, and discussing the full breadth of projects in which One Israel Fund is involved.

One Israel Fund is the premier North American charity dedicated to supporting the 150 communities in Judea and Samaria in the areas of communal, educational and recreational needs as well as health and preventative security facilities and equipment.
