Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ is hosting a one-of-kind trip to Israel from October 14 to 22 in 2018. “This is a wonderful opportunity for all members of our community, whether they’ve been to Israel 40 times or never before, to join us on a life-changing adventure and celebrate the 70th birthday of Israel together,” said mission chair Jane Wilf of Livingston.
The mission is also being led by vice-chairs Debbie and Allan Janoff of Short Hills, Beena and Steve Levy of Morristown and Erica and Steve Needle of Scotch Plains. A large number of agencies and synagogues, as well as many individual bus captains, have signed on to host busses and recruit fellow travelers.
“This mission is designed to appeal to everyone in the community,” Wilf continued. “Highlights include an individual track day where participants can choose from a number of themed adventures. But the best part about it will be the energy created by traveling with hundreds of members of our own community. It will offer the best of both worlds with customized, intimate experiences with your own bus to mega events for the entire group that only a trip this size could offer, such as access to top political and cultural Israeli leaders; a festive evening in the desert with music, fireworks and a spectacular menu; a behind-the-scenes visit to Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial; and much more.”
The cost of the Greater MetroWest commUNITY Mission is $1,999 per person based on double occupancy for the first 200 registrants and $2,499 for each subsequent registrant, land only. A large portion of the actual cost, $3,400, is being subsidized by Federation through funds raised by corporate and individual sponsors. This subsidy is available only to residents of the Greater MetroWest community. The cost covers five-star accommodations for four nights in Jerusalem and two nights in Tel Aviv, most meals, transportation, guides and events.
