JEC Names Rabbi Ben Pomper Assistant Principal

(Courtesy of JEC) After an extensive months-long search, the Jewish Educational Center announced that Rabbi Ben Pomper will be joining the JEC family as its new Judaic Studies assistant principal.

“Rabbi Pomper is an excellent addition to our team,” said Rabbi Uzi Beer, JEC principal. “Rabbi Pomper’s warmth and energy excites and inspires students of all ages. He is an excellent role model and we know he will bring his passion for Torah, middot and ahavat Yisrael to every facet of our school.”

Rabbi Pomper comes to the JEC after serving as the Gemara department chair and Torah enrichment coordinator at Yeshivat Noam, where he worked for the past four years. While at Noam, Rabbi Pomper focused on teaching, developing curriculum, mentoring teachers and designing innovative programs that enhance Torah learning. Rabbi Pomper introduced an inspiring lunchtime Daf Yomi program and comprehensive Mishnayot seder and led the department in the integration of Torah and technology.

“I am very excited to join the JEC family and to contribute to the development of every student,” said Rabbi Pomper. “I am looking forward to helping students, parents and faculty achieve their aspirations for excellence in Torah and personal growth.”

Prior to Yeshivat Noam, Rabbi Pomper taught Judaic studies at Yeshivat Har Torah for six years and was a writer and translator for Artscroll Mesorah Publication’s ambitious Midrash Rabbah project.

Rabbi Pomper joins the JEC’s incredible administrative team and will spend significant time in the classroom, teaching both Gemara and Halacha in the JEC middle school. “Rabbi Pomper brings an enthusiasm and love of Torah that will at once educate and inspire all of our students,” added Beer.

No stranger to the JEC community, Rabbi Pomper ran programs at the Union Y’s summer camp, where many JEC families are members.

Rabbi Pomper studied at Yeshivat Shaalvim before earning his B.S. from the Sy Syms School of Business. After college, Rabbi Pomper studied at Yeshivas Mir in Israel and received his semicha from Yeshivas Ohr HaChaim in Queens, New York. Rabbi Pomper holds a master’s degree in Jewish education from the Touro graduate school.

“We are excited to introduce Rabbi Pomper to the JEC family in the coming weeks, as he shares his love of family, Torah, education—and hockey and golf!” concluded Beer. “Together, we are #Proud2beJEC!”
