Ahavas Achim Hosts Rabbi David Bashevkin, Nov. 15-16

Members of the Highland Park/Edison community are invited to Congregation Ahavas Achim in Highland Park for their first Ahavas Achim University scholar-in-residence of the 5780 season, featuring Rabbi David Bashevkin, director of education for NCSY. This scholar-in-residence weekend is sponsored by the Korbman Family in memory of Jack Korbman, z”l.

The schedule will be:

Friday night, November 15: Lecture at 8:00 p.m. followed by Oneg Shabbat: “BT, FFB, OTD: Entrance and Exit Ramps of Religious Life”

Shabbat Day, November 16: Lecture after Mussaf, in the main sanctuary, “Coca Cola & Apple: Case Studies in Religious Communal Development”

Lecture at Seudah Shlishit (approx. 4:40 p.m.): “The Wholeness of the Broken Luchot: An Introduction to the Thought of Rav Tzadok of Lublin”

Rabbi David Bashevkin is the director of education for NCSY, and an instructor at Yeshiva University, where he teaches courses on public policy, religious crisis and rabbinic thought. He completed rabbinic ordination at Yeshiva University’s Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, as well as a master’s degree at the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies focusing on the thought of Rabbi Zadok of Lublin. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in public policy and management at The New School’s Milano School of International Affairs, focusing on crisis management.
