This time it was Shira Ish-Ran, 21, 30 weeks pregnant, and her husband, Amichai, who both suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Their premature baby boy was reported to have passed away at press time.

There is no justification for this kind of violence toward unarmed, helpless civilians.

Five others, some as young as 16, were shot by this monster at a bus stop outside of Ofra.

The response was for the IDF and even Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to talk about a swift and harsh response, even as the UN refused to condemn Hamas for their disgusting acts of terror.

We’re reminded of the classic movie “Casablanca” and the line spoken by the Claude Rains character Capt. Renault when he said, casually, “Round up the usual suspects.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu talked about bringing the terrorists to “justice” and “settling the score.”

But we’ve heard similar words of outrage before. Now, as suggested by the beleaguered parents of Mrs. Ish-Ran, those holding political power in Israel need to step in and put an end to this terror.

This is our ancestral homeland and our Jewish nation state. In years past we learned with painful clarity that when checkpoints are relaxed and Palestinians travel freely through Israel, it has been often followed by horrific violence against Jews. Maybe it’s “just” two people here or seven people there, nothing massive all at once. Yet in the collective, Jews should not have to worry about standing at a bus stop, be it in Tel Aviv, Ofra, Jerusalem or anywhere, especially not in a Jewish nation.

Many cringe when they then read a follow-up quote from a Hamas spokesman calling the terrorist a “hero” or a “martyr.” And we wonder still how the world’s nations in the U.N. can’t form even the slimmest majority to condemn the actions of this terror group.

Netanyahu was correct and courageous in addressing the U.S. Congress and telling them that the Obama administration’s nuclear deal was a bad one. The prime minister has worked behind the scenes to bring about quiet alliances with Arab nations, and now even making progress in African and South American countries.

Now is the time for the prime minister and his government to come to the aid of his own people, especially those living in Judea and Samaria. They need to feel safe in their own country. The PA and Hamas aren’t going to give their own people a chance at peace while they are attacking Jews. It’s about time we understand that.

Nobody wants war, nobody wants conflict.

But as Hezbollah’s attack tunnels are unearthed in the north and Hamas undoubtedly is restocking its rocket supply, the attacks on citizens of Israel continue.

Shut down the roads from the Arab villages. Reduce the access. The ensuing protestations matter less than the safety of the Jewish people.

We’ve been saying “never again” for generations now.

The Palestinians don’t deserve the freedoms of access they are given unless they prove otherwise. We just don’t see that happening any time soon.
