Clarifying Costs and Administration at Yeshivat He’Atid

I would like to clarify two things about the article that was published in The Jewish Link this past week regarding the panel that I participated in a few weeks ago (“Panel: No Single Solution to the Tuition Crisis, Especially for a Community Divided,” March 22, 2018).

Firstly, regarding Yeshivat He’Atid’s financial assistance, I want to clarify that we do not provide assistance out of our tuition dollars. We strongly believe that financial assistance is part of a community’s obligations. We have an event once a year where we collect money specifically for scholarships. Last year, with the help of the community, we collected $65,000 and distributed an equal amount. Every family who requested assistance received assistance.

Secondly, in regard to my quote concerning our administrative team and keeping our staff lean, I was misquoted. I do have two assistant principals and a business office manager. However, they all wear many hats and hold several positions in the school. Whether it is teaching in the classroom to different responsibilities in academic subjects to organizing school-wide events, each staff member is responsible for multiple areas in the school. This allows us to keep our staff lean, and therefore keep costs down as well.

Thank you for including Yeshivat He’atid in your article.

Rav Tomer Ronen

Head of School, Yeshivat He’Atid

Editor’s note: We apologize to Rav Ronen and Yeshivat He’Atid for the errors in the article. The online version has been corrected to reflect these clarifications.
