We feel it is vitally important to re-elect Josh Gottheimer to Congress. Our support for Josh is not only due to his very powerful support of Israel and Jewish issues, but we want you as fellow readers of The Jewish Link to be fully aware of what Josh has actually done in these areas of such great concern to us.

Josh speaks loudly and clearly against those who have stoked the angry flames of hatred and anti-Semitism, be they extremism from all sides or BDS on campuses. Josh introduced the bipartisan “Combating BDS Act” to fight back against the boycott of the Jewish state.

Josh is a centrist who from the moment he was elected believed in working against divisiveness and in working together in a bipartisan way to get things done and do what’s best for New Jersey and America. He is co-chair of the bipartisan group the “Problem Solvers Caucus.” In Congress he co-sponsored the bipartisan “Protecting Religiously Affiliated Institutions Act.” He has brought federal dollars to protect our Jewish institutions from terror threats in our district.

Josh thinks it is more important than ever for both political parties to remember and value Israel’s strategic importance to our country. He is a leader in never allowing Israel to become a partisan cause. He publicly applauded and strongly supported the president’s moving of our embassy to Jerusalem. He has fought against one-sided attacks and resolutions against Israel at what he always calls “the biased UN.” He introduced a bipartisan resolution with Republican Mike Gallagher and Democrat Eliot Engel objecting to the UN resolution that criticized the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, highlighting the UN’s long history of bias and anti-Semitism against Israel, and urging the General Assembly to repeal this harmful measure.

Josh strongly opposed the nuclear deal with Iran from the beginning, even before his election. Members of both parties have seen the light and agree that the deal has grave flaws and Iran remains a dangerous threat to Israel, the US and the security of the entire region. That’s why he supports reimposing sanctions on Iran, and he has co-sponsored legislation to sanction Iran’s ballistic missile program, its Revolutionary Guard Corps and its front companies and suppliers. Pushing for acting on a bipartisan basis, Josh and Republican Brian Mast wrote the “U.S.-Israel Joint Missile Defense Act” to advance the Arrow 3 long-range missile defense system and protect Israel from Iran’s ballistic missiles and the hundreds of thousands of rockets in the hands of the terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah.

Josh was one of the first Democrats in the House to co-sponsor and speak out on the House floor in support of the Taylor Force Act to end the Palestinian “pay to slay” policy. He led a bipartisan effort to demand that Al Jazeera register as a foreign agent since it is an arm of the Qatari government and broadcasts hatred and anti-Semitism around the world.

We hope this gives you a greater appreciation of how extraordinary Josh Gottheimer is. He works with a true sense of the values we share. He speaks truth to power. In just his first term he has already accomplished so much in these areas alone that are are so important to Jews, Israel and America, and he has done them in a positive, uniting way to help create a better country and a better world.

This may sound over-the-top, but he has truly walked the walk.

We hope you will go out and speak to others and vote for Josh and show him our appreciation, hakarat hatov.
