Cory Booker’s Real Record

The headline on this JNS article is “Sen. Cory Booker Has Mixed Record on Israel” (February 7, 2019).

Mixed? Really?

Let’s look at the record. Just in the article alone it says: Booker supported the disastrous Iran deal, and then was against America withdrawing from it. He voted against the anti-BDS boycott act, opposed the nomination of David Friedman as ambassador to Israel, was against the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and against relocating the embassy there. In addition, Booker was photographed at a pro-Palestinian BDS rally proudly holding a sign saying “From Palestine to Mexico. All the Walls Have to Go.” And he has now firmly thrown in his lot with the far-left anti-Israel, anti-Semitic faction of the Democratic Party.

These are all anti-Israel actions performed as a U.S. senator. His pro-Israel actions are limited to empty, flowery rhetoric, which unfortunately is all that matters to so many Jews. I don’t know what standards the JNS uses for its characterizations, but if this record is called “mixed,” I wonder what more Booker would have to do for them to call him firmly anti-Israel.

I am amazed at the many Jews who savage Trump, the most pro-Israel president in American history, merely because they don’t like the way he tweets, but overwhelmingly support Democratic politicians like Booker, whose actions are openly antagonistic to Israel. Jews like to think of themselves as being smart, and any Jew who can read and write pompously thinks of himself or herself as somehow being part of an elite world-wide “intelligentsia.” In fact, I see them as merely delusional. In normal times this would be harmless and maybe even humorous. However, in today’s times, with so much Israel and Jewish hatred, such delusions can become self-destructive and border on suicidal.
