Kaplen JCC on the Palisades Holds Fifth Annual Yoga on the Lawn

The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades will host its fifth annual all-level yoga class on Sunday, June 11, 9-10:30 a.m. Held on the expansive JCC camp field, this free outdoor class will be led by an inspirational team of JCC yoga instructors, including Alison Miller, Robert Hoon, John Quirk and Jill Schwalbe, with a special introductory meditation session led by MaryBeth Sigler. People of all ages and levels are encouraged to attend this one-of-a-kind fitness event that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and clears the mind.

“Yoga practice is great way to improve overall health and an excellent way to stay in shape,” says Hagit Tal, JCC group exercise director. “The benefits are enormous and as health professionals at the JCC, we are so pleased that our center is located in such a private and peaceful, spa-like setting that we can offer outdoor programs of this kind in addition to all the state-of-the-art facilities we maintain in our gyms. Our ongoing hope is to encourage members in our community to engage in more healthful activities, and to educate them about all the various fitness options open to them. We hold these free community events several times a year for exactly this reason.”

The JCC has a skilled, inspirational team of certified fitness instructors teaching yoga, Pilates, barre, cycling, Zumba and other specialized disciplines. It also offers members a roster of more than 90 free drop-in group exercise classes each week, as well as year-round health and wellness programs geared for the entire family in its Russ Berrie Family Health & Recreation Complex. This ultra-modern recreation facility is a place where members can enjoy the benefits of individualized instruction, all the latest in state-of-the-art equipment and a caring and motivational staff that can assist people at all ages and skill and fitness levels to achieve their fitness goals.

Participants should bring a mat, towel and water bottle and wear sunscreen. The event will be held in the JCC Taub Gym in the event of inclement weather. People can register online at www.jccotp.org/yoga. The class is free, but participants should “Add to Cart” to RSVP. Raffles available for great health and wellness prizes, including a three-month membership to the JCC. For more information, contact Hagit Tal at 201-408-1477 or [email protected].
