The Power of the Mind-Body Connection

Do you ever feel sick to your stomach on your way to a blind date? Do your palms get sweaty whenever your boss’s name appears on the caller ID? Or have you been finding it hard to get your diabetes under control, despite lots of encouragement from your doctor? We’ve all experienced some variation of these situations at a point in time. The connection between our mind and our body is incredibly powerful and can have a huge impact on both our physical and emotional health. Although the mind-body connection was discerned centuries ago, it’s importance is having a resurgence as we speak and we now have a lot more information on how it works and its effect on our health and well-being. A few weeks ago, I hosted a workshop alongside a good friend, Joey Zimet, who is an expert in Postural Alignment Therapy, with the goal of helping people gain a better understanding of the mind-body connection, including it’s implications and benefits. The second installment of that talk is coming up soon. Here are a few highlights from my talk that readers may find helpful when considering the power of the mind-body connection.

Understanding the power of the mind-body connection is the first step in improving our health. By taking good care of both our minds and our bodies, we set ourselves up for happy, meaningful and productive lives.

The second installment of our wellness event will be taking place on Sunday, June 11, 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale. My colleague and co-host, Joey Zimet, and I will share our unique insights into the mind-body connection from both the psychological and physiological points of view.

All are welcome to attend!
