Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders Returns From Second Trip to Mazor Robotics

(Courtesy of CMD) It has been an exciting journey for the Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders of Englewood concerning their spinal robotics platform.

As was well publicized, last year the Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders made a landmark purchase of the Mazor Robotics spinal robot, known as the Renaissance. This robot enables the surgeon to more accurately and efficiently target spinal anatomy in an attempt to place spinal screws and hardware into the patient. The technology and its computer platform and robotic system, developed by the Mazor Company in Caesarea, Israel, is unparalleled in its intricacy and application.

Several of the physicians had visited the Mazor USA plant in Florida prior to the purchase as well as making a visit to Caesarea, Israel, to speak to design developers and corporate executives over the previous year.

This last month, a group of 10 physicians and lay business leaders, headed by the Center for Musculoskeletal Disorders, made its second trip in a fact-finding and idea-exchanging engagement. While there, Drs. Vora, Abramchayev, Simhaee, Popowitz, Lewin and others met with design developers as well as Ori Hadomi, CEO of Mazor Israel and Chris Bryant, the vice president of Mazor USA. They discussed the clinical firsts that have been conducted by the CMSD as well as the planned utilization of the robot in a New Jersey hospital to be shortly announced. They even had time to make a L’chaim with Ori Hadomi (see picture).

Both Mazor and CMSD remain extremely enthusiastic, concerning increased utilization of the spinal robot among members of its own group as well as local, regional and national utilization to the level where the Mazor robot will become the standard of care for the application of spinal hardware.
