Recognizing Opportunity for Optimizing Medical Treatment

In our practice we have found that our body tissues hold a story that emanates in our energy field. Our work is designed to help unblock the trauma held in our bodies and to facilitate a healing environment. Sometimes we have to look past the diagnosis and look into the person. Sometimes we have to look past traditional medicine to partner with alternative treatments in order to optimize care.

The following is a story, an opportunity to sense and feel a lifetime of energies that needed only time and patience to shift.

Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer at the end of October 2014. Diagnostics recommended only five sessions of advanced radiological treatment. Subsequently, Mom is on her way to a good recovery and prognosis. This is one of those stories where a life was saved…but all was not perfect. In each radiation treatment, the technician required mom’s right arm to be fully extended over her head to allow for ideal application of the radiation. The problem was that mom had arthritis that limited her range of motion of her right arm. She also had an old injury secondary to a fall. So, how was the problem resolved? The technician, with good intent, pulled her arm into the desired position for radiation treatment, resulting in intractable pain still present after six weeks.

What happened while trying to take an x-ray of “her post-radiated shoulder,” ordered by an orthopedist assessing her pain? She could only lift her arm 25% of normal range. I asked if I could help. I began with just holding her shoulder and waited to sense the field and assess the story it held within. Following her breath and the softening of the tissue, mom and I eased her arm into greater range of motion.

Standing in the x-ray room with mom, I was holding much more than her shoulder. I was holding the shoulder of a Holocaust survivor who has for decades held too much in her arms. I was holding the shoulder of Mom who held and nourished four daughters. I was holding pride and fear. I was holding cancer.

I stood there with the awareness that it was all there in my hands. I waited to feel her body surrender, allowing her arm to reach full range of motion.

Every client we work with presents this opportunity to engage in an energetic life and body dialogue that facilitates a complete healing environment.
