Rabbi Prero Teaches Self-Help Skills at Moriah

Last week, Moriah fourth and fifth graders participated in an engaging and fun Team Building Workshop led by Rabbi Tani Prero, Rabbi Tani uses games and other exercises to help students learn the skills that match their unique capabilities. The workshop facilitates interactions that help students work together more effectively and learn to smooth out their differences. The activities which Rabbi Tani introduced to the students were geared to train them to respect and listen to one another. By guiding students to discuss and communicate, he was able to teach them important social skills such as communication, creative problem solving and initiative and leadership. The students experienced a sense of satisfaction from working together and accomplishing the goal that Rabbi Tani set for them. While each activity focused on a different skill, the overall workshop enabled the students to have a greater appreciation for achdut, (togetherness).

The core values embedded in this workshop include positive attitude, dignity, responsibility and resourcefulness. These values were demonstrated in game-like activities such as

The Australian Jumping Game, in which students had to follow a designated leader’s instruction in order to complete a challenge. Another game, Octopus Toss, tasked the students with tossing an octopus toy at increasing speeds while recalling names, sequence and motions. The Moriah faculty intends to incorporate the learned values into their classrooms and school routines.
