Yavneh Academy students enjoyed a wide array of activities on Lag B’Omer. Early childhood had a wonderful time meeting the animals at the Van Saun Zoo and then enjoying a special in-class kumzitz. First and second grade students enjoyed a trip to Urban Air. Middle school students traveled to the Superdome for sports activities. Students in grades three through five participated in Yavneh’s fourth Lag B’Omer Maccabiah with fourteen different teams represented! After opening ceremonies on campus, the students travelled to the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades where softball, basketball and soccer competitions took place. The students not only had the opportunity to learn about their own team’s country, but through exchanging stickers of the other team’s flags they were able to gain knowledge about all the Maccabiah countries. Finally, the students returned back to Yavneh for closing ceremonies. Congratulations to the first place team, Brazil!
