Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

JLNJ’s Elizabeth Kratz Heads Back to First Grade

Elizabeth Kratz, The Jewish Link’s editor, visited Yeshivat Noam’s 1A and 1B as part of career month, to share why she chose her career in writing, and explain what The Jewish Link is all about. When they asked what the word “link” meant, Kratz showed them the rubber band bracelets her daughters had made for her, and explained that the Hebrew word for link is sharsheret. The purpose of The Jewish Link is to connect, or link, Jewish communities in New Jersey to one another.

Kratz asked the students what they wanted to be when they grow up, and they told her their plans with great excitement. The most prevailing career aspiration was ballet dancer/veterinarian with the second place as pop star, singer or artist combined with veterinarian. Eli Forman, who has previously been featured in The Link for his visits with his father to NASCAR racing events, stated his goal to become a NASCAR driver when he grows up. Nili Rothenberg was particularly excited to show the class her father’s law firm’s advertisement on the cover page, which appears in every issue. Eitan Markovitz was also very thrilled to share that both of his grandmothers, Pearl Markovitz (a regular JLNJ contributor) and Linda Stock, have written for and/or been featured in The Jewish Link.

Kratz was particularly happy to visit with her daughters Zippy and Hannah (career aspirations: mathematician and artist/veterinarian, respectively), and all their friends. Everyone got their own fresh copy of The Link to take home.
