This year, all TABC seniors worked on a Capstone project in their English classes, in which they developed a driving question about a topic of interest to them, engaged in the inquiry and research process, and created a presentation of their learning that they delivered at a Capstone Evening.

For the first part of the evening, seniors exhibited their projects for parents and teachers, enthusiastically describing their research process and what they had learned and created. Next, after words of Torah from Yaakov Wieder on the topic of inquiry, eight students gave more formal presentations of their work. Mattias Csillag created a clothing line for veterans called MIA. Tani Greengart delivered an inspiring talk about the value of adolescent literature. Adiel Felsen studied Quentin Tarantino films and made a “Wiki-How” page entitled “How to Make a Quentin Tarantino Film.” Drawing on his study of Arthur Miller’s play, Aryeh Brusowankin explained what “Death of a Salesman” can teach us about class mobility in America. Ari Solomon shared his engaging Prezi on the history of floor hockey. TVAC member Eitan Spiewak explained the problem of people who overuse ambulance services and what can be done about them and Yochanan Klyman presented a video that might help in suicide prevention. Finally, Shai Rosalimsky delivered a powerful presentation of his inquiry into the best ways to respond to Holocaust denial. This was an important opportunity for seniors to engage in inquiry-based learning as well as to hone their research and other 21st century skills before graduating.
