RKYHS Students Engage in ‘Tanach Circles’

In RKYHS Tanach classes, students have been engaging in “Tanach Circles,” an activity based upon what is commonly known as Literature Circles. Students choose, among multiple sifrei Tanach, a sefer that they would enjoy learning and then prepare a portion of the sefer for each time they meet.

Each student has a specific role for each Tanach Circle, such as creating meaningful discussion questions, illustrating significant moments in the text, finding background information to help clarify the material or connecting the lessons to their own lives. When students come together at each session, they engage in high-level discussions about what they have learned and they see that they can learn a sefer on their own in an interesting, fun and thoughtful way. Once finished, the class will celebrate with siyumim for their completion of the different sefarim they will have learned.
