JKHA Middle School Participates in an Hour of Code

On December 18, over 100 students from the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy Middle School joined 76,603,900 students across the country by participating in an Hour of Code. The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science designed to demystify code, spark students’ interest, and show that anybody can learn the basics of coding.

The Hour of Code website offers several tutorials that are perfect for new coders. One of the tutorials is based on the popular Anna and Elsa characters from the movie Frozen. Students created snowflakes and patterns as they ice-skated through a winter wonderland! Other students worked on helping the Angry Bird catch the Pig.

This was a school-wide initiative, and several Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School students and recent RKYHS alumni acted as coding coaches for the Middle School students.
