Teaneck Baseball Organization Elects David Greenberg as New President

This past Monday night, the board of Teaneck Baseball Organization met for the final time of the 2016/2017 season. During the meeting, the board nominated and elected David Greenberg as its new president. Greenberg has served on the board for many years in various capacities, including overseeing equipment management and, most recently, as commissioner of the 11/12 division.

Immediately upon his election, Greenberg set out a new and bold agenda for the coming year. Plans include expanding the use of TBO’s website and smartphone app to take advantage of live scoring, broader communications between the league, coaches and parents, up-to-the-minute scoring updates and a number of additional TBO community events for the offseason and next season. In particular, the board is already formulating plans for a grand opening day event at Votee Park’s new and improved New Field.

“We have a lot we can accomplish over the next few months,” Greenberg told the board, adding that “I believe we can make this league even better than it has been.”

Throughout the meeting, board members discussed and addressed both the successes and challenges experienced over this past season, and board members were energized by Greenberg’s dedication and commitment to the league.

Outgoing President Yoni Lieber thanked the board for their hard work and dedication over the past two years of his term, and specifically thanked several long time board members who have chosen to retire from the board to allow younger parents to join. Past presidents Steve Gronowitz, Ari Rubin and Steve Pudell, will all be stepping down from the board after many years of service and dedication. Equipment gurus Seth Greenfield and Josh Zelig and marketing specialist Miriam Warburg, all of whom have given TBO countless hours over the past several years, will also be leaving. “Being on the TBO board has been a privilege” said Gronowitz, whose youngest child graduated from TBO three years ago.

“People don’t realize how much personal investment of time and effort it takes to deliver baseball for our kids every spring,” Greenberg later noted. “Serving on the board is very rewarding, but it is not easy. Yoni has done a fantastic job for the past two years, and the entire community owes him in particular—and all of our departing board members—a tremendous debt of gratitude.”

As the meeting continued, nominations to the board for the upcoming year started flowing in, as Greenberg took notes, and began to formulate his plan. Greenberg closed out the meeting with each board member expressing their own ideas on how to help shape the 2017/2018 year and concluded with a plan to meet again before the end of the summer to begin implementing some of the ideas and suggestions being made.

“I am thrilled that the board elected David as the new president,” commented Lieber at the conclusion of the meeting, “He has a lot of great ideas and more energy than most people I know. He is going to help bring TBO to the next level.”
