Marc Zharnest Promoted to Head Coach of Women’s Soccer Team

(yumacs.com) Yeshiva University Director of Athletics, Joe Bednarsh, has announced the promotion of Marc Zharnest to Head Coach of the YU women’s soccer team. Zharnest previously served the team as an Assistant Coach. J.J. Davidson and Ansara Persad will join his staff as Assistant Coaches.

No stranger to the Maccabees, Zharnest played for the Yeshiva University men’s soccer team in 2006 and 2007.

“Marc is very familiar with YU, having worked for admissions for so many years, and I truly believe he is going to set the bar for recruiting extraordinarily high,” Mr. Bednarsh said. “He’s going to inherit a team with amazing heart and dedication and will take them to the next level.”

Since 2013, Zharnest has served as the head coach of the Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls varsity team. He led his squad to four straight divisional titles from 2014-2017. Yeshiva High School for Girls won the league championship in 2016 and 2017

Zharnest also serves as the head coach of the Frisch Yeshiva High School junior varsity team, as well as the head coach of the Yeshivat Noam Middle School soccer team.

Active in the world of soccer, Zharnest is also the assistant coach of the Frisch Yeshiva High School varsity team, helping the unit capture the MYHSAL league championship in 2014.

Zharnest served as the head coach of the Kushner Hebrew High School men’s varsity and junior varsity teams from 2011-2013, leading the varsity team to an appearance in the league championship game in just his first season. He was the head coach of the TABC Yeshiva High School junior varsity team from 2008-2010. He coached the TABC boys team to the MYHSAL junior varsity league championship in 2010.

Currently residing in Fair Lawn, N.J., Zharnest earned his Bachelor of Science in Management from Yeshiva University Sy Syms School of Business in 2010. He served as the Director of Outreach and Recruitment for the JSS Program at Yeshiva University from 2010-2014. He earned his Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Seton Hall University in 2013 and currently serves as the Director of Sales Operations for Centers Health Care.
