Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week: Gabe Plotsker

The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School junior Gabe Plotsker as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Going into the season, Plotsker has an edge on other juniors around the league, because this is his second year as a member of the varsity Cobras (only top sophomores are selected to play up on varsity while still JV eligible). The added experience is paying off for Plotsker and the Cobras. Two weeks ago, he had a monster game when the Cobras topped Shaare Torah 41-36. In the win, Plotsker’s final statsheet read 19 points, 15 boards and five blocked shots.

Gabe, the future look very bright for you and the Cobras. If you had to pick one person, who is your role model, and why?

My coaches, because they are always pushing me to get better and have complete confidence in me and my teammates.

Who is your favorite athlete, and why?

Anthony Davis, because I try to mold my playing style to be like his and I like his aggressiveness and explosiveness.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment, so far?

Either competing for a championship in the Sarachek Tournament last year or making the yeshiva league playoffs.

What is your pre-game routine, if you have one?

My pregame routine is to first stretch, then get pumped with music. I usually like to listen to rap. Then I put up some shots and start the game.

What is your earliest sport memory?

My earliest sport memory was from when I was five and I was standing in my backyard with my dad and I hit my first shot on a 10 foot hoop and I was so excited.

What is your favorite sports memory?

My favorite sports memory was probably the feeling after winning a semifinal game in Sarachek with my team.

What do you like to do when not playing sports?

Chilling and hanging out with friends.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

Being recognized for the hard work my team and I put in.

The Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week will receive a $15 gift certificate to Teaneck Doghouse. Please send nominees for an upcoming Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week to [email protected].
