RKYHS Is Filled With School Spirit at Sports Night

On Monday night, November 20, RKYHS held its first ever Sports Night and Tailgate. The entire evening promoted a sense of camaraderie and unity among the students and the school spirit was palpable throughout the building. The night was an ideal way for the students to come together as one and recognize the warmth and cohesiveness of their RKYHS community.

The students’ RKYHS pride was displayed throughout the night. After school ended, students davened Maariv and then came outside to participate in a school-wide tailgate party to kick off Sports Night. Students and teachers enjoyed an extensive BBQ, hung out and bonded around one of the many fire pits, roasted marshmallows and participated in a range of sports activities such as soccer darts, speed pitch, football toss, a fully-fitted video game truck and the tailgating classic, corn hole. To round out the tailgate experience, a DJ was brought in to enhance the atmosphere.

Once the tailgate was over, students prepared for a night of cheering on their fellow classmates at the SIX home games that were all played on the same night. Each student received an RKYHS Sports Night shirt, customized for each grade. Students wore their shirts as they cheered on their friends and classmates on the basketball and volleyball courts, in their wrestling matches and on the hockey rink. Both JV and varsity teams competed. RKYHS teams took home four wins that night.

The message on the shirts that were given out was a fitting theme to an unbelievable night of school unity—“RKYHS Strong Alone, Unstoppable Together.”
