The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 13 year old Avishai Jutkowitz as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey seventh grader is tearing up the yeshiva league as the RYNJ Jaguars’ top scorer.

Avishai, yasher koach on this honor and another great season. Who is your role model and why?

My father is my role model because he has coached me a lot and taught me the importance of playing hard, but also keeping the game in perspective. He has also really helped me improve my game.

What is your favorite sport?

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

Winning the MGBL championship last year and winning MVP.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

My favorite athlete is John Wall because I really like the way he plays and he is a team player.

What is your pregame routine, if you have one?

I try to block out everything around me and warm up a lot before a game.

What is your earliest sport memory?

My earliest sports memory is when I played my first year of MGBL and scored for the first time.

What is your weirdest sports memory?

My weirdest sports memory is when I actually met Walt Frazier (Knicks broadcaster) in person and we ended up talking about his rhymes.

What do you like to do when you are not playing sports?

My favorite thing to do when I am not playing sports is watch sports on TV and hang out with friends.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

Being a Sportstar is great because you see when you put in a lot of work to get better, it really pays off.

The Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week will receive a $15 gift certificate to Teaneck Doghouse. Please send nominees for an upcoming Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week to [email protected].
