MVP 2018 10th Annual Boys All Star Day Is Smashing Success

On Sunday, March 25, MVP basketball hosted its 10th annual boys All Star Day at SAR High School. The daylong program featured over 175 players, selected by their respective coaches, playing in five games throughout the fun-filled day: sixth, seventh and eighth grades, high school junior varsity and varsity.

Each player received an MVP All Star Day 2018 T-shirt with MVP 10th anniversary logo. The teams were comprised of players from the following yeshiva day schools: Yeshiva Har Torah, JEC, MBYA, YDE, Hillel, HALB, Magen David Yeshiva, HAFTR, HANC, North Shore Hebrew Academy, ASHAR, Yeshiva of Flatbush, Silverstein, Moriah, Ramaz, Yavneh Academy, Frisch, Kushner, YCQ, RPRY, Shaare Torah, Park East, MDS, Rambam Mesivta, MTA, SAR, SSSQ, TABC and Maor. Coached by coaches from all the yeshiva leagues, the games were extremely competitive, with some buzzer beaters. The blend of all of the different uniforms from players of so many teams was truly a colorful sight.

The comradery and interaction amongst players, friends and family members was truly memorable, as players from the “East” and the “West,” showed great achdut throughout the day. The sense of team chemistry was also apparent by the high level of play and unselfish teamwork throughout all of the games. SAR High School was the perfect venue for MVP All Star Day as there are a number of kosher eateries right across the street.

Each halftime featured a 3 point shootout and sixth grade foul shooting contest, some coming down to the very last shot and all the winners receiving trophies. MVPs, chosen from each team, and each game, were awarded an MVP trophy as well— and a lucky raffle winner at halftime of each game received a beautiful MVP Klipped Kippah.

Special thanks to SAR, and their Athletic Director Marty Berlin, for their hospitality, and to all the parents, families, friends, players, refs and coaches for helping make this year’s MVP All Star Day, its best one yet.

This event is the kickoff for MVP Boys Basketball Camp 2018, in its 10th year as premier Orthodox Jewish basketball camp which takes place at magnificent Camp Seneca Lake. MVP is adding a tennis and soccer track this year—limited spots; same dates, cost, place. MVP 2018 will run from August August 19-23.
