Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week: Tilly Chamberlain

The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 15 year old Tilly Chamberlain as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls sophomore collected quite a bit of hardware in last month’s swim meet at YULA. She earned first place ribbons in the 200 IM, 100 butterfly, 50 butterfly and the 100 butterfly. Along with second place ribbons in 50 butterfly and 50 breaststroke. Ma’ayanot swim coach Esther Isser told the JLNJ “Tilly Chamberlain is a very motivated and hard working athlete. She always is looking to do more and improve herself at all times. As her coach I have seen tremendous growth by Tilly and am so proud of her. I look forward to seeing her grow and strive!”

I do not have one specific role model. I look up to everyone around me because I believe that each person has a quality or personality that makes them amazing and I strive to be like all of them. I think that all of the people around me are talented and I have something to learn from each one of them.

My favorite sport is by far swimming because of the calm beneath the water which allows me to focus.

My greatest sports accomplishment is the swim tournament in Los Angeles this past weekend, because I succeeded in races I have not done before.

Katie Ledecky because she is a five-time gold Olympic swimmer and I admire her strength and endurance to do what she does.

I warm up and then focus on not freaking out!

I remember when I was young and I was swimming in the lake with my cousins.

I was playing football with my dad and I was running backwards in my high heeled flip flops and I fell and broke my foot.

My favorite sports was my first meet last year. I loved it because I had always doubted my ability, but after my meet I realized that swimming could be fun and competitive.

I love to hang out with my friends, take pictures, see beautiful places and occasionally do schoolwork.

All of my hard work has paid off and has been recognized. I’m so thankful that I get to do the sport I love!

The Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week will receive a $15 gift at Teaneck Doghouse. We are once again searching for a Father’s Day Sportstar, if your dad/son/brother/spouse is a Sportstar please reach out to us at [email protected] so we can recognize him.
