Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

The MGBL boys high school league is known for competitive games. This week’s spotlight game takes us to Ben Porat Yosef where team MGBL played the Jewish Link of New Jersey team on Saturday night May 12. Team MGBL only had seven players available, but Eitan Pfeiffer, a junior at MTA, knew he must play hard and well for his team to have a chance to win. In reality, he always plays hard but now he needed to step up his game one more notch, if possible. Well he did just that. Pfeiffer scored an MGBL high school season high 48 points in leading his team to a 71-57 victory. He had 30 points in the first half. Shooting six out of eight from three point territory, nine out of 11 on drives to the hoop and 12 of 13 from the foul line. He pulled approximately 15 rebounds, had seven assists and eight steals. After the game, Pfeiffer’s father and coach Allen Pfeiffer told JLNJ “The most important thing to Eitan is not his stat line. It is bringing energy and enthusiasm to the court to inspire his teammates. In addition, at every game, Eitan ensures a Dvar Torah is shared on the bench during timeouts or at halftime. He enjoys playing with his teammates and credits them for much of the team’s success.”

While Pfeiffer was having a historic night, Akiva Feit was putting up tremendous numbers for the Dr Popowitz Center team at Ma’ayanot High School. Feit scored 28 of his team’s 45 points. In the same game eighth grader Doni Wolk’s 13 points led a balanced attack from the Lincoln Equities Group team. Despite Feit’s great game, Lincoln Equities prevailed with four generations of Wolks in attendance. Shout out to Saba Wolk.
