Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week: Isabelle Nadritch

The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize 10-year-old Isabelle Nadritch as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Moriah School of Englewood fifth grader won the coveted Hustle & Heart award at this summer’s Hustle & Heart girls basketball camp. She was selected from among all of the players after a week of competitive games, exciting tournaments, rigorous drills and instructional clinics. Chad Mekles of CMEK told the JLNJ, “Isabelle is a fearless competitor. Since kindergarten, basketball has been her thing. She’s often tasked with defending the opponent’s best player. Offensively she continues to work herself into a playmaker. She’s always been able to create her own shot. Now, after the camp, her passing and court sense has improved where she can setup teammates. Most importantly she is an incredible leader who has a genuine passion and love for the game. We are also proud she backed up her weeks with us by winning the MVP at Hustle & Heart this summer.”

Isabelle, congrats on winning the coveted Hustle & Heart award this summer. If you had to select one person, who would you say is your role model and why?

My role model is my mom because even though she works really hard she is always there for my sister, brother and I. She is at every important event in our lives and I love her so much.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

Winning the Hustle & Heart award at Hustle & Heart basketball camp this summer.

Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?

Steph Curry is my favorite athlete because even though he is short like me he is still one of the best players in the world.

What is your pregame routine?

My pregame routine is to think of the words from the song “Get Your Head in the Game” from High School Musical while I warm up. The words from the song psych me up.

What is your earliest sport memory?

Watching the New York Giants play with my dad.

What is your favorite sports memory?

When my CMEK team won the third grade championship.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

Seeing how much I have improved and accomplished.
