Teaneck Doghouse Sportstar of the Week: Bentzion Keiser

The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Teaneck Doghouse would like to recognize almost 11 -year-old Bentzion Keiser as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The sixth grader at Yeshivat Noam is a star for the Bergen Broncos, sixth grade Noam Knights basketball team and a stand-out player at Camp Overtime this past summer. When asked about Keiser, Camp Overtime Program Director Jack Ganchrow told the JLNJ, “Playing against kids a year older in an intense week of hockey, Bentzion proved he could handle the highest levels of competition. Camp Overtime had all of the best players on the defending yeshiva league championship team along with stars from other schools as well, but that didn’t stop Bentzion who led the single Overtime division Ice Dogs to a first place finish.”

Bentzion, congratulations on your first place finish at Camp Overtime. If you had to select one person, who would you say is your role model and why?

My role model is Rick Nash; He was the reason why I started playing hockey.

What is your favorite sport?

My favorite sport to watch is football and favorite sport to play is hockey.

What is your favorite sports memory?

.In second grade TBO, I hit a two-run homer in the champs and won.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

My greatest sports accomplishment was when I won MVP at a hockey camp called Overtime and I wasn’t the oldest grade.

Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?

My favorite athlete is Lawrence Taylor, because he was a dominant player and he changed the game of football.

What is your pregame routine?

I go to the middle of the the court and bang my stick 11 times because I am 11.

What is your earliest sport memory?

My earliest sports memory is watching my older brother playing baseball.

What is the weirdest sports related thing that has happened to you?

Once when I was running to home plate, I fell, but we still won the game.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?

When not playing ball, I like to watch sports or go swimming.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

The best thing about being a Sportstar is that people will know who I am and know I am good at sports.
