MGBL High School action continued last weekend and despite the damp and dreary weather outside, the competition was heating up inside the Torah Academy of Bergen County. This week’s spotlight game was Aamatex Power Washing vs iShine. Aamatex Power Washing came out shooting with three pointers from Eli Saks, Eli Sudwerts, Uriel and Alex Ostrin. Despite some beautiful passes, the undermanned iShine team found themselves in a 44-29 hole at halftime. IShine coach Saul Stepner told his crew at halftime, “The second half is ours.” His team, determined to prove their coach right, went on a nice run lead by Yonatan Naor’s game high 30 points and Avery Stepner’s 22. With less than a minute to play, iShine was up 66 -65, forcing Aamatex Power Washing to foul and stop the clock. IShine was unable to convert on the front end of the 1-1 and Aamatex Power Washing’s Ari Smith cashed in on the other end making it 66-67. Stepner took the ball to the hoop for iShine, missed the first attempt, Ikey Gutlove collected the rebound and went up with the same result. IShine’s Pinny Balsam grabbed the board and put iShine back on top 68-67 with 10 seconds to play. Alex Ostrin was not ready to go home yet. He took the ball coast-to-coast and as the clock expired his shot fell through the cylinder, giving Aamatex Power Washing their second win of the season.

The top scorer of the week goes to Akari Therapeutics Plc’s Shmuli Coates with 35.5 points per game. Duff & Phelps’s Liam Levy comes in second with 27 points.
