An Upset Worth Remembering: How Ramaz Hockey Achieved the Impossible

“No chance” the Rams were told. Their hardest game of the season was about to begin. The Rams invited the Frisch Cougars for a matchup that many deemed would be a “blowout.” Yet, the Rams silenced all their critics. Despite going down early, Ramaz responded to tie. The game was a back-and-forth affair, culminating in a last second chance to seal the deal. Eitan Linhart, with eight seconds left, had a breakaway and shot the ball top shelf—but it hit the crossbar! However, Frisch failed to clear as Linhart stole the ball to attempt another shot. With 1.4 seconds left, Linhart shot the ball top-shelf again, but this time scoring! The Rams did it! They handed Frisch its first loss in two seasons. With 23 straight wins going into this game, the defending champs were now stunned, with a final score of 4-3.

The Rams are now ready to take on the yeshiva hockey league. With half the season over and the playoffs in reach, the Rams need a few wins to secure a spot. Beating Frisch proves the Rams are competitive. As long as they stick to their game plan, success will come.

Ramaz followed up with an impressive win over MTA. The Rams dominated the game the first two periods. Yet, MTA scores in the third to make it a 2-1 Ramaz lead. The Rams held on and continued the win streak. Following MTA, Ramaz hosted the Rambam Ravens. It was a great game, back and forth. Ramaz scored first, yet the Ravens scored with 2:30 left in the third to send to OT. In the end, defenseman Isaac Schertz netted the OT-goal to win it for the Rams. To cap off the month, Ramaz travelled to TABC. They fought hard but TABC prevailed 4-2. Ramaz is a team to be reckoned with. They have shown an ability to compete with top teams, despite having a small number of players leading to fatigue. However, they need to be able to start winning games on the road if they want a chance at the cup.
